Join Us For a Summer of Fun! • 2009 Summer Day Camp

Four 2-week Sessions From July 6 to August 28

Our Preschool to 4th Grade Program includes:

• Trips to the Marine Science Center, Farmers’ Market, and Uptown Community Garden
• Exploration Beach Walks
• Messy Arts & Crafts
• Crazy Science Experiments
• Music with Keeth
• French & Japanese
• Yoga & Creative Movement
• Explore•Math•Science Workshops (Grades 1-4)

Children may be enrolled for 2-5 days per week, for as few as two or as many as eight weeks. Preschoolers and Kindergartners may be enrolled for either the morning or afternoon session each day. We offer an All-Day Program for school-age children (Grades 1-4) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Discovery Learning

At Firefly Academy we believe that children gather and retain information best through the process of discovery, directed by internal motivation. Through play, developmentally appropriate and intellectually stimulating activities, children are better prepared for lifelong learning.

Montessori-Inspired

Our program includes a differentiated classroom setting, self-directed learning, and independent choices all within an active learning community. Montessori materials and activities allow each child to be his/her own teacher.

Multiage Environment

Children move through stages in a set order, but not necessarily at a set pace; for this reason we believe in the richness of a multiage program. Another is that the positive interaction among mixed ages provides a framework to develop empathy, compassion, leadership, responsibility, and accountability.
